Advanced AI: APIs, Agents & Governance
For learners ready to go beyond the chat window. This advanced track covers building on the Claude API, controlling API costs, assembling simple agents and automations, creating an MCP server, evaluating and testing AI outputs, and the governance and security practices that keep workplace AI responsible. Some technical comfort is recommended β the Applied AI courses make an ideal prerequisite.
What you'll learn β competencies
Pass each module's knowledge check to earn these competencies (view in the competency framework β):
- Make a real Claude API call and read the request and response
- Control API cost with caching, batch, and model tiers
- Build a simple agent on the API
- Build an MCP server
- Evaluate and test AI outputs
- Govern AI use: security, privacy, and compliance

Frequently asked questions
Who is AI 302 AI APIs, Agents & Governance for?
It is for technical learners and builders who want to work with AI programmatically β calling APIs, building agents and tooling, and applying real governance. It is the builder track of the Advanced path.
Do I need a technical background or coding skills?
Yes β this is the technical course in the program. Comfort with code and APIs is expected. The Novice path and an Applied course are recommended grounding first.
What will I be able to do after completing it?
You will be able to call the Claude API, control AI costs, build an agent and an MCP server, evaluate model outputs, and apply governance and security in practice.
How long does it take and how is it delivered?
It is fully self-paced and online. You work through a series of modules, each ending with a short knowledge-check quiz, and you can start, pause and resume any time. It is an advanced-level course with around six hands-on sections.
What do I earn for completing the course?
You earn a badge for each module you complete, the competencies tied to those modules, and a Rana-AI Tech Certificate of Completion for the course. Course badges also count toward your overall rank in the program. AI 302 is an Advanced-path elective and counts toward the Grandmaster rank.
